Treading the Path with Affiliate Marketing
Mentors
As affiliate marketing becomes popular, more and
more people enter the business to experience the hype. For those who have
started early, they have reached mastery at a certain level. However, a large
portion of the people involved in Internet marketing still have to know the
basics of doing the online marketing business.
There have been assumptions and misconceptions
that contributed to every failure of engagement. Some think that it is the
easiest path to make money. This may be a result of some advertisers using
misleading words to attract people to buy and/or market their products.
The fact it, to be successful in an affiliate
marketing business is not an easy task. It never happens overnight as some
people say. It’s just like an ongoing assignment where you need to find out and
try various advertising strategies and tactics. This may even require you to
sign-up with numerous affiliate programs just to determine which merchants
perform well.
Other affiliates think that if they have more
banners for only one niche, they have more income opportunities. They don't
realize that flooding the site with many banners turns away visitors, who get
confused with the different banners available.
It is therefore recommended that products for
promotion should be aligned to the niche theme and topic of the website. Three
to four affiliated links are enough to fill a regular web page.
Driving traffic to the site is also another area
for consideration. It is not enough to have affiliate materials posted on your
web pages. You need to have visitors who normally come from search engines and
advertisements ran by the sites like Google. One way to get traffic is by
spending on advertisements that carry your affiliate link or the site where
affiliate links are placed. This increases the click-through rate and the
probability of making sales.
There are still more challenges and concerns
that every affiliate needs to address while treading the path of Internet
marketing. The beauty of every path is the presence of a teacher when the
student becomes ready. An affiliate who is serious about succeeding this path
should consider having a teacher or a mentor to guide him or her along the way.
Just what exactly is a mentor? A mentor is
someone who has achieved a certain level of mastery in his or her chosen field
or craft. They are experts who can give expert advice, guidance, and
supervision to an aspirant.
In affiliate marketing, they are the super
affiliates who have proven track record in sales and strategies. They have been
successful in this field and therefore have the necessary experience that anyone
can duplicate to achieve the same or even greater level of success. Most of
all, since they are mentors, they are willing to share their experiences
gathered from both the affiliate and merchant's viewpoints.
The mentors are also work in progress. They
continue to learn, develop, and evolve. They cannot stop learning. They have
to be at pace with the fast-changing times. They must know how to adapt and be
flexible in times of shifts and turns. As they go up the ladder, their
affiliate students also go up.
What the mentors know they pass to their
students according to their level. Basically, they teach them the keys to
succeed in affiliate marketing, the techniques and strategies to generate more
affiliate income, and the proper mindset an affiliate has to develop. Mentors
also pay attention to developing the affiliate’s traits and attitudes such as
persistence and patience.
Being masters in Search Engine Optimization (SEO),
reciprocal exchange, link exchange, email marketing, advertising, newsletter
marketing and other strategies, mentors are proper resource persons for any
aspiring affiliate. They make learning easier for students because they have
already been there. However, since the environment and market change, both the
mentors and the students should learn how to adjust and adapt.
Being a mentor is way harder than succeeding in
affiliate marketing but this task is very rewarding especially if the affiliate
students become successful. The failure of the student is the failure of the
master. The success of the mentors is also the success of the student.
